What’s HP_SureRun.exe (HP Sure Run)? Is it safe or a virus?

HP_SureRun.exe is part of HP Sure Run, a security feature developed by HP Inc. This software is designed to monitor and maintain the operation of critical processes on your system, such as antivirus programs and firewalls. If any of these processes are stopped or disabled, HP Sure Run attempts to restart them and alerts the user. This functionality is particularly useful in preventing malware from disabling essential security services. HP Sure Run is hardware-enforced by the HP Endpoint Security Controller, providing an additional layer of protection beyond software alone.

You might find HP_SureRun.exe on your system if you're using an HP Elite or Pro series PC, as HP Sure Run is included with these models. The feature can be managed locally through the HP Client Security Manager or remotely via the HP Manageability Integration Kit, allowing customization of which processes are protected.
